Our Story

Founded in Yellow Springs, Ohio, Greene Gardening grew from a simple desire to reconnect with the natural world. After years spent behind screens working as a commercial videographer and film editor, founder Brian Traylor began gardening at home as a way to slow down, work with his hands, and restore a sense of balance through nature.
What began as backyard gardening soon led to work at Judith’s Homestead Gardens in the fall of 2025. What started as a side job quickly became the most rewarding part of the day. By Spring 2026, Greene Gardening was officially formed and began serving homes, farms, and commercial properties throughout Yellow Springs, Beavercreek, Xenia, Springfield, Fairborn, and surrounding communities.
Greene Gardening specializes in low-impact, environmentally conscious gardening with a focus on native plants, pollinator-friendly landscapes, and long-term sustainability. Our approach emphasizes gentle organic gardening practices that work with nature rather than against it. We believe beautiful gardens should feel alive, natural, artistic, and manageable to maintain.

Inspired by both native ecology and botanical artistry, Greene Gardening creates spaces that support wildlife, encourage biodiversity, and bring seasonal beauty to homes and public spaces alike.
Brian Traylor is a Yellow Springs High School Class of 2000 graduate and studied at Antioch College. His creative background as a filmmaker strongly influences Greene Gardening’s artistic approach to outdoor spaces — viewing gardens not simply as landscaping, but as living environments filled with texture, atmosphere, and seasonal movement.
Brian currently serves on the board of the Tecumseh Land Trust and has also served on the board of the Hartman Rock Garden, reflecting a long-standing commitment to preservation, ecology, and community stewardship.
In addition to Greene Gardening, Brian co-runs the commercial videography company Hatch New Media alongside Rod Hatfield, producing documentary, commercial, and creative media projects throughout the region.
Greene Gardening is also developing a new Tea House and Native Plant Garden in Yellow Springs featuring tea service, seasonal gardens, and plants for sale. The space is designed to celebrate native ecology, community gathering, and the simple pleasure of slowing down outdoors.
At Greene Gardening, our goal is simple: to help people cultivate healthier, more beautiful relationships with the land around them.
